Hardware:
The physical parts of the computer are called computer hardware. Computer hardware consists of central processing unit and various input devices like keyboard, mouse and output devices like printer, monitor etc. attached to it.
Software: The instructions given to the computer to perform a given task are called computer programmes or computer software.
The software or programmes prepared in computer programming languages.
There are two main types of software.
i. System software
ii. Application software
i. System Software:
System software controls a computer's internal functioning, through an operating system, and also controls such peripherals as monitors, printers and storage devices.
ii. Application Software:
Application software directs the computer to execute commands given by the user and may be said to include any programme that processes data for a user. It includes word processors, spreadsheet, data base management systems and many other "applications".
