Hello readers here I discuss about computer network. It is a set of two or more than two computers connected with each other is called as computer network. Computer connected over a network can make exchange information easier and faster. The information moves directly from computer to another computer. People can concentrate on getting their work done rather than on moving information around the company.
Types of net work there are two types of network.
1. Local Area Network(LAN)
2. Wide Area Network(WAN)
1. Local Area Network(LAN)
A network of personal computers with in a limited area is called as local area network.
2. Wide Area Network(WAN)
A network of geographically distant computers is called wide area network.
Network topology
Style of joining the computer in a network is network topology.
Type of topology
There are three types of topology\
1. Bus Topology
2. Star Topology
3. Ring Topology
Bus Topology
A topology in which all the computers are connected to a common wire or communication media is called as bus topology.
Star Topology
A topology in which all the computers are connected to central hub is called as star topology.
Ring Topology
A topology in which each computer is connected to its next computer such that last is connected to the first computer called as ring topology.
Network Protocol
A set of rules for communication of data between computers connected in a network is called a network protocol.
Types of protocol:
there two types of protocol
1. Hardware protocol
The set of rules that defines how hardware devices operate and communicate with each other in a network is known as hardware protocol.
2. Software Protocol:
The set of rules that defines how software running network communicate with each other in a network is known as software protocol.
Different devices
There are different devices that are used to connect networks. The most commonly used devics are given below.
Repeater:
The device that is used to amplify the signals is called repeater.
Bridges:
The device that is used to connect similar network segments is called bridge.
Router:
The device that is used to connect different types of network segments is called router.
Gateway:
The device that is used to connect networks that use different protocol is called gateway.
Token:
A short message that travels around the communication medium is called as token.
